Best Resignation Letter Sample for a New Job Opportunity [2022]

Resigning from a current position for a new job is fairly common as an employee. Most employers recognize they won’t be able to have a great employee with the company for years. Great employees tend to want to transition into a new opportunity to advance themselves. When an employee feels there is a new job or new opportunity they want to explore, the process for transitioning out of the company is common.

When resigning for a new job, inform the supervisor, manager, or boss as soon as possible. The employee and manager will create a transition plan that sets the notice period goals for the company and employee. In most cases, this consists of training a colleague on the workload of the employee. Replacing their job duties and job responsibilities with another employee.

After informing the manager of the desire to leave the company due to a new job opportunity, the employee will have submitted their formal notice. And upon receipt of the resignation letter to the human resources department, the official resignation and formal resignation process will be completed.

Dear Mr. Smith —

This letter is to express my gratitude for the position and the opportunity to work here and submit my formal resignation from the company effective June 14th, 2019. It was tough to leave this company as I have such a great relationship with my colleagues. A new job opportunity presented itself, and it's something I must pursue as part of my personal career goals.

Once again, I am extremely appreciative of this opportunity.

Thank you so much for this opportunity.

Sincerely,
Kevin
